The Dreamscape is the plane of existence where the consciousnesses of all living beings reside.

Description[edit | edit source]

The Dreamscape is a higher plane of existence that is solely inhabited by the living consciousness. It is implied that the Dreamscape is the dimension on which normal thoughts and dreams exist: if true, this would mean that the Dreamscape is inhabited by the minds of every naturally-created sentient being in the universe, whether they are aware of its existence or not. It is not possible for physical matter to enter this dimension, but powerful telepaths can project mental avatars of themselves into the Dreamscape to explore and influence it as they would a physical plane and even talk to people in their dreams. In its natural state, the Dreamscape appears as a blank white void.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

When Niflheim disappeared from his universe, Mina Bjork projected her consciousness across the Dreamscape of their world and into alternate timelines in an attempt to find Nif in case he had travelled backwards or forwards in time. Mina made her friendship with Nif her 'constant' while travelling through alternate Dreamscapes in order to maintain the connection between her mind and body. In 150,084 CMT (Day 76 of The Mazkertis Paradox arc), Mina located Nif's consciousness in the Dreamscape of the Original Universe and used her telepathic powers to isolate him with her in a portion of the Dreamscape so that it would be difficult for other telepaths to eavesdrop on them.[1]

Mina was unable to generate a mental avatar to represent herself in the Dreamscape of the Original Universe because it was too far separated from the Dreamscape of her world, but she was still able to establish contact with Nif while he was asleep. Mina briefed Nif on how she had managed to find him and shared her theory as to how Nif had ended up in the Original Universe in the first place: that a catastrophic temporal event had caused Niflheim's World to diverge from its natural timeline and develop into another universe altogether (which may or may not be the Original Universe). Mina explained that because Nif had been in Hell, a dimension that exists outside of time, when the theorized change occurred, he had been transported to the same place in Hell in a different timeline altogether instead of normal space in Niflheim's World when he had been 'knocked out of' Hell. While Nif processed this new information, Mina clarified that, in order for Nif to return home, he needed to focus on a 'constant' like she had in order to prevent the cross-timeline travel from tearing his psyche apart. Mina explained that Nif's constant should be his friendship with her, Drepp, EEEEEE, and other close friends of his that existed in both universes. Nif protested that he had not yet befriended the Original Universe's versions of the friends he had in Niflheim's World, but Mina replied that he would and that it was the only way he could return home. Finally, Mina revealed that Nif needed to return to Niflheim's World soon to help her prevent some sort of apocalyptic event, but Nif awoke in his quarters on the Night of Fire before he could hear Mina elaborate on this statement.[1]
